Your surgeon will be the one who best determines the amount of time that you need to maintain head-down positioning after vitrectomy surgery. In order to maintain the head-down positioning that your surgeon requests, there are devices that can be leased or purchased to facilitate head-down restricted positioning.

The lacrimal gland is responsible for producing the watery component of our tear film. Many factors, such as medication, infections, or autoimmune diseases, can reduce its function. Thus, a complete drug and medical history is necessary to understand a patient's dry eye and the health of their lacrimal gland.

The Meibomian glands produce an oil-like substance that coats the watery layer of our tear film to prevent it from evaporating. As we age, these glands may secrete a thicker product, become blocked or dysfunctional, and we become more sensitive to wind and air conditioning. Strategies to improve Meibomian gland secretion may involve heat to melt the thickened oil and massage to express it onto the ocular surface.

Treating dry eye may require reviewing medications, increasing lacrimal gland secretion with drops, treating systemic medical conditions, helping the Meibomian glands, or a combination of these approaches.

If you require more information about laser refractive procedures, please consult your local optician or Collaboration: Ideally, optometrists and ophthalmologists work together as a partnership. Optometrists are often the first line of screening for eye diseases and manage vision correction. Ophthalmologists, with their specialized medical training, diagnose, treat, and manage medical or surgical eye conditions. This collaboration allows patients to receive comprehensive eye care.

I will get back to you on this as I am in too much discomfort due to procedures Dr Gill did to me, 2 procedures he never told me about, like cutting part of my lower eyelid out.. there are important oil glands there!!! He also put implants under my eyes, I was never told me he was going to do this. I feel 24/7 like there are objects in both sides of the same eye at all times! I can no longer drive, read, watch tv, I can’t enjoy ANYTHING!! Even taking my dog for a walk is not enjoyable due to the feeling there are things in my right eye, and my oil glands are no longer working so my eye is soo dry I have to put expensive eye drops in my eye every 5-10 minutes! My husband and I went down from Georgetown over 10 times, he always said this will fix it, and I got disappointed each time, because it didn’t fix the problem, we have been trying to fix this problem for over 2 years now, it has gotten worse not better, I feel like a guinea pig!!! I am not the only one, there is another girl that said her eyes are ruined and has severe dry eyes as well, and one man who is not happy with what Dr. Gill did to him!!! He has put me through very painful procedures, whether it was giving me needles in my eye nerve blocks, taking sutures out, different times, He also was not able to sedate me with medication and took part of my lip out and sowed into my eye. It also has made my eye worse, I have considered suicide several times. I honestly don’t know how to live this way I am housebound as I said I can’t drive my car. I can’t read I can’t even take my dog for a walk. I can’t even watch a movie with my husband. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone!!! Dr Gill prescribed me Lyrica to help trick my brain into not feeling the problems in my eye, the first time I took it, I felt higher than a kite by the third day it didn’t work, he basically was putting a Band-Aid on the problem and was not fixing it. I looked at all the side effects of this medication and the horrendous. I also have to put lubricating gel in my eyes each night and wear a mask very tight to keep my eyes closed, he did an orbital decompression saying that this would allow me to close my eyes again. Obviously that didn’t work had I known the discomfort I’m in now I would never of gone to him. Please call me at 647-239-7060 I will explain in further detail, what I’ve gone through in over two years.

absolutely outstanding - as a retired anesthesiologist and university professor i am in a position to make this judgement. i have never seen an office so well run with the end point being dr gill whose treatment planning and subsequent surgery from a highly educated and award winning very personable practitioner made the entire rather complicated procedure a pleasant experienced. dr earle young
